The changes are necessary to make Microsoft a leading productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. ''I am committed to making Microsoft the best place for smart, curious, ambitious people to do their best work," says he clearly in his note.

He reminded employees that technology industry "does not respect tradition - it only respects innovation".

Microsoft will modernize the engineering processes to get closer to customers. "We will streamline the engineering process and reduce the amount of time and energy it takes to get things done. You can expect to have fewer processes but more focused and measurable outcomes. You will see fewer people get involved in decisions and more emphasis on accountability."

Microsoft will invest deeply on Data and Applied Science and Software Engineering, to innovate more effectively and improve the delivery as well.

Nadella has envisioned Microsoft as a product and platform company. "At our core, Microsoft is the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. We will reinvent productivity to empower every person and every organization on the planet to do more and achieve more."

Though he didn't divulge the exact details of how they want to do that in terms of new technology innovations, but gives a few hints on the broad areas of focus such as digital work and life experiences, device OS and hardware and cloud OS.

While these were some of the points we thought to bring to our readers' notice, wait to hear more from Nadella and the senior leadership team at Microsoft, as they promises to share more on the innovation and operations objectives of the company throughout this month.
