MTS spans 14 districts in 4 months

KOCHI, INDIA: MTS, the telephony brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), a joint venture between Sistema (LSE: SSA) of Russia and Shyam Group of India, announced that its mobile telephony services will be available across all the 14 districts of Kerala, covering 425 towns.

This marks the completion of phase one of MTS India’s network roll-out in Kerala, which has been completed in less than four months of its operations in the state. MTS was recently also recognized as the “Most Successful New Telecom Operator” at the Infocomm CMAI National Telecom Awards held in July 2009.

With all 681 cell sites of Kerala integrated, MTS services will now be available to a population of 53 percent, and over 45 percent of the geography of Kerala.
