The latest service pack will offer updates to products such as Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), which is a high-quality, hassle-free security solution and Internet Explorer 8.

Microsoft will also be rolling out a new campaign called PC Reseller and Authorized Service wherein the company will be associated with PC service organizations and the PC reseller channel. Under this, Microsoft will also be partnering with the top five PC service organizations and various resellers in India to authorize and equip them to conduct health check-ups across cities in India. The resellers will further appoint around 25,000 engineers who will conduct these PC health check-ups. Elaborating on the same, Guneet Singh, Head—Integrated Marketing and Communications, Consumer and Online, Microsoft India, said, “We will make sure that top service partners along with their workforce will automatically reach their partners in case any problems arise. Basically, from April we will see a lot of communication between our authorized partners, end-customers, and engineers who will be working on customer queries.”

As of now Microsoft has not yet decided, how many PCs are they going to cover in future. “The target to install XP SP3 will take time which can extend to 90, 120 or even 180 days,” added Singh.

The training for engineers will include various stages because some engineers are already trained compared to others who are being trained currently.

“The training is not that complicated and we will first go through the training schedule which the organization follows. It is basically meant for the end-users and for self information. It is no rocket science and very simple as I think it will happen on its own,” added Singh. In order to reach out to the end-customers the company will distribute CDs along with magazines. Microsoft will be concentrating on the digital and print campaigns.

The company will also be having an online campaign and targeting the right kind of audience for the campaign.
