MUMBAI: Mphasis is planning to open another center in India this year and is scouting for the location. The new center will operate both the BPO and IT services. Overall the company is expecting 35 percent growth this year with major focus on BPO operations and is planning to foray into the healthcare vertical for its BPO operations.

According to Mphasis Chief Operating Officer, Ramesh Padmanabhan, "As the business is growing, we have started thinking about opening a new center to cater to the needs of our ITES and BPO clients."

In India, Mphasis has presence in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. Pune center is a complete outsourcing center while the other two partly do oustsourcing work. The company has a BPO center in Mexico that caters to the needs of its Spanish clients and another in Shanghai. It is now contemplating the idea to make all its centers both ITS and BPO centric. The Mexican and Shanghai center will soon start IT services operations for the company.

The company has strong presence in financial vertical and is now planning to foray into healthcare vertical. The company has expertise in both voice and non-voice segments. 70 percent of its BPO revenues come from voice and the rest from non- voice. "The ratio would not remain same this year. There is a definite shift in the outsourcing work we are operating in," Padmanabhan added.

The company is also going for a major recruitment drive this year fro its BPO operations. Last year it had doubled its strength and currently has 4,500 people in BPO.
