MphasiS brings in educational initiative

MUMBAI, INDIA:MphasiS an EDS company, announced on Tuesday that it has brought out an educational initiative, ‘College Connect’ by partnering with academia to bridge the gap and ensure a head start for students.

Through this initiative, the company would works with Engineering Colleges to help bridge the gap between academics and industry needs thereby creating talent that could be deployed on real-time project work immediately, said a press release.

College Connect currently has six college affiliations that span across India. The various modes of program include:

Sponsoring College Events: This is done through monetary and advisory means. They have provided funding as well as guidance on college festivals and competitions.

Internships: Students from College Connect partners are given first preference for internships at the company’s many offices across India and are also invited to work with its Innovation Office on new and niche product ideas.

Certified Trainers: Faculty from College Connect partners are invited to the resident training academy of MphasiS where they undergo skills training.

Recruitment: College Connect partners would be given preference during MphasiS campus recruitment.

Soft Skills Training: Through its Global Learning and Development team, MphasiS has conducted soft skills training for students at partner colleges at a critical time when students are gearing up for the recruitment season.

“Through College Connect, we hope to further strengthen our ties with the academic community and reach out to a larger audience especially in Tier II and Tier III cities,” said Elango R, chief human resource officer. “We believe that this program will enhance academic curriculum with reality-based industry requirements; thereby, helping build industry-ready talent.”
