Motorola X Phone launch not until 4Q13: rumors

Motorola X Phone would not launch until 4Q13, according to latest rumors after speculations that the gadget may be launched in June or July, 2013.

Google's chairman on Wednesday confirmed that Motorola is working on a range of handsets and claims it will redefine the concept of premium smartphones.

According to a PhoneArena report citing an inside source, the X Phone would offer a plethora of physical customizations that include different color combinations (unbelievably over 20 color options) and the ability to select the material of the outer casing.

Further, the report claims the material of the outer casing might not be an option in the first generation X Phone, but it could be offered in another device later this year.

Earlier rumors suggest that the X Phone will be launched in June, while a few reports came said that it will be July, however, the recent report says that the Motorola X Phone would not launch until 4Q13

Rumors and reports about a Motorola-built Google X Phone have been swirling around for almost six months and at the D:Dive into Mobile

conference in New York, Eric Schmidt finally confirmed its existence by saying " have a new set of products, which are phenomenal, very, very impressive." When asked to clarify the hyperbole, he said "think of it as phones-plus." In other words, unlike existing premium smartphones, the X Phone will be more than a collection of the fastest processors, largest internal storage, best graphics performance and highest quality construction materials.

Sources close to the project claim that the X Phone will be extremely robust, able to survive even serious impacts thanks to a carbon fiber shell, will boast a flexible display and a real Nikon camera and could even be a platform unification device in that it will pull together Chrome OS and Android features on one device.
