CHICAGO: Motorola Inc., the No. 2 maker of cellular phones, said it would buy a privately-held developer of technologies that help build Internet-based wireless high-speed communication networks.

Schaumburg, Illinois-based Motorola expects to complete the acquisition of the company, MeshNetworks Inc., in the fourth quarter. It did not provide terms of the deal.

Motorola said the acquisition will help it to build sophisticated high-speed wireless networks that are capable of sending data, video, location and voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) services.
