NEW DELHI: Motorola's Commercial, Government, and Industrial Solutions Sector
(CGISS) unveiled a new range of radio transceivers which has been developed
based on extensive survey of customer feedback. These include GP 328 and GP 338
professional radios, MTX 900 and MTX 960 in the trunked system radio series and
GM 950E and GM 950+ in the GM series mobile radios. Some of the new features
incorporated in the transceivers include emergency alarm, voice selective
calling, tone tagging, etc. The products conform to exacting military standards
for rain, dust, humidity, extreme temperature, radiation, etc. and are backed by
a two-year warranty for the radios and a one-year warranty for external
accessories.
Motorola has identified two-way radios as a high growth segment in the Indian
market. It claims that as a market leader, it has taken the initiative in
expanding the market in this segment. This is being achieved through a
three-pronged strategy, aimed at increasing its penetration in the existing
market base, increasing its adoption rate by creating new markets, and moving
the larger users up the value chain with integrated systems solutions.
Currently, the company caters mostly to the needs of the government sector
and the defense establishments. Motorola has now begun concentrating on
expanding its presence to large campuses including telcos, manufacturing units,
and utility sectors.
Speaking at the launch, Aktar Thaker, Director of Distribution, South Asia,
Motorola, CGISS, said, "This extensively researched range is sure to
redefine the standards of land mobile industry in India. We became the market
leader in just over two years. Last year, we conducted a survey to ascertain the
market needs. Our respondents felt their operations had become more complex and
the launch of this range of products is Motorola's response to the needs of the
changing times."
The products are variously priced in the range of Rs 16,000 to Rs 17,500,
depending on the kind of accessories that go with the systems.
