The cell phone division of the company, which is already passing through a phase of struggle, is planning to cut more jobs to streamline the operations of the company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The co-chief executive of the company, Sanjay Jha, plans to make more job cuts and also simplify how it makes devices, the newspaper said.

The mobile phone handset maker is planning to focus on Google's Android as the software platform for Motorola's showcase phones. And the business-focused devices will be based on Microsoft Corp's Windows Mobile.

According to the newspaper thousands of employees may get the pink slip soon and the announcement is likely to come on Thursday, when the company announces its reports.

During the last two years, the company had terminated more than 10000 employees, as a result of the decline in the handset sales.
