MonkeyTalk is currently available as a beta offering. Gorilla Logic recommends that Android testers upgrade immediately, but iOS FoneMonkey users can wait for MonkeyTalk’s general release.

The latest open source project, MonkeyTalk, combines the power of FoneMonkey for iOS and FoneMonkey for Android into an integrated, cross-platform mobile testing solution. One can record scripts on iOS and play them back on Android, and vice versa.

MonkeyTalk is simple yet powerful as test engineers with little or no programming experience can easily create sophisticated keyword-driven and data-driven test scripts, and can parameterize scripts to create reusable testing components that can be combined to rapidly implement complex testing scenarios.

The MonkeyTalk IDE - A complete workbench for capturing, editing, replaying, and managing comprehensive mobile test suites. The MonkeyTalk IDE can be run as an Eclipse plugin or as a standalone application on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

“We have rewritten the tool to provide more comprehensive support for QA testers,” Stu Stern, the company’s CEO, said, adding that the same test scripts can be used for both platforms.
