MobileTV firms, DiBcom and Softronix, join RMI Partner Alliance program

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS: Raza Microelectronics Inc. (RMI), a leading supplier of processors for communications and consumer applications, announced that MobileTV focused companies, DiBcom and Softronix Corp. have joined the industry’s most complete MIPS-based eco-system, the RMI Partner Alliance (RPA). These advanced MobileTV hardware and software components, when combined with an RMI Alchemy Au1250 processor, offer mobile devices a powerful MobileTV capability covering multiple standards such as DVB-T/H, DMB, and ISDB-T.

DiBcom is a leading provider of MobileTV solutions. As a fabless semiconductor company that designs highly integrated chipsets, DiBcom enables low-power mobile and portable TV reception everywhere and at the highest performance. Its solutions are used in automotive, portable LCD TV, PC, mobile phones and other handheld device applications. DiBcom has extensive experience solving real-world mobile digital terrestrial television (DTT) reception problems and has overcome the main technological barriers to high-quality service.

Combined with DiBcom and RMI, Softronix brings a complete DTV software solution supporting major DTV standards worldwide. The Softronix software package enables TV applications on RMI Alchemy powered mobile devices and provides a way to enjoy TV entertainment on the go. In addition to their TV application software, Softronix’s underlying value is in embedded DTV middleware for handheld devices, including PDA, PMP and PND products.

To showcase the new partnership and the combined MobileTV functionality, DiBcom is demonstrating the RMI reference solution at IBC in Amsterdam, September 7~11, 2007. DiBcom’s solutions for MobileTV is being presented at booth 131 in Hall 3. The demo is based on the RMI Alchemy portable media player reference design and features a DTV software solution from Softronix.
