The Maharashtra Government will use mobile vans for this purpose and these vans will be equipped with biometric scanners and will have trained staff to handle the daily operations.

Aadhaar enrolment in many villages in Maharashtra is very poor. Through these vans the Maharashtra Government aims at encouraging more people to enrol for Aadhaar.

"Tenders have already been floated for the vans. In each of the 35 districts of the State, five vans would be deployed. The vans will not only visit inaccessible villages, but directly go to persons who are infirm and can't make it to the Aadhaar centre. The process of deploying the vans will start soon," a Business Line report quoted Rajesh Aggarawal, Information Technology Secretary of the Maharashtra Government, as saying.

As of now, about six crore enrolments have already been completed and the state has over 4,000 biometric machines. On an average basis, 1.5 lakh persons are registered a month.
