The information and broadcasting ministry of India recently held discussions with the department of telecommunications on locating adequate spectrum for mobile TV services. The services need 585-698 MHz of spectrum.

"Though a broad solution has been arrived at, certain issues such as relocating the spectrum identified for mobile TV from Defence Services are still to be completed," the I&B ministry said in a report tabled in the Lok Sabha.

The new mobile TV will be different from what is currently offered by nexGTV and MyplexNow as these work on internet connectivity on mobile phones.

With the anywhere, anytime offering, will Mobile TV take away the fun of watching television in the comforts of our living room? Is it the beginning of the end of the television era?
