The applications, which consist of iPhonebook, iDatebook, iBackup and RemoMail, an email application, have been developed for QUALCOMM's BREW solution by U.S.-based Remoba, Inc., a leading application service provider of high-value, affordable mobile productivity solutions.

RemoMail allows a user's mobile phone to access both personal and office e-mail accounts from anywhere and at anytime. It offers up to 50 customizable reply templates for a quick response and allows for incoming email addresses to be saved into a native phone address book for easy retrieval.

iPhonebook links wireless phones to address book content in existing Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes or Palm applications, providing users with the benefits of expensive hybrid digital devices at a fraction of the cost. Contacts can be remotely uploaded or downloaded between the phone and the office or home PC.

iDatebook gives subscribers easy access to calendar content in existing Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes or Palm applications from the mobile phone while away from a PC. It also supports text message alerts for upcoming meetings and appointments, generated by desktop meeting reminders.

With iPhonebackup, mobile subscribers can economically safeguard their contacts. With an easy-to-use menu, subscribers can wirelessly save the contacts already programmed in the mobile phone's address book and restore them at any time onto their existing handset or on a new handset.

Each of these applications was designed with the busy mobile professional in mind, whose lifestyle demands constant connectivity at an affordable price.

"At Tata Indicom, we are constantly striving to make useful and compelling products and services available to our customers. Wireless mobility empowers people and Remoba's Mobile Office Suite is a powerful tool that enables this," said Pankaj Sethi, vice president of Content, Tata Teleservices. "By introducing the unique concept of a mobile office for the first time in India across a range of mid-end handsets, Tata Indicom is working to enhance productivity and connectivity across a large base of our customers."

QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust systems and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE-based, modular delivery system that enables the distribution of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages.
