KOLKATA: Mitsubishi Electric will be opening 72 Trium Avenues in the country

in a couple of months. Under each of these avenues would be 10 Trium Junctions

together with the existing 500 dealers the total number of outlets would be 1220

countrywide.

For Mitsubishi the total earnings for the last accounting year was $ 15

million. " This year we recorded $10million in revenues and we hold the

gray market accountable for the losses. We are therefore making a more

aggressive presence and giving customers an 18-month warranty on all cell

phones", said Mitsubishi Electric country manager S Bassi.

In the North there would be around 20 Trium Avenues, 22 in the West, 10 in

the East and 20 in the South. Mitsubishi is initially expecting total revenues

of around $ 0.25 million from the Trium avenues and junctions within the

quarter. The East zone is already contributing about 20 per cent to its entire

Indian revenues. As of today its market share stands at 7-8 per cent and expects

it to increase to around 8-10 per cent by the next of this fiscal 2001. It would

launch its three models, Geo, Ariya and Cosmo and within the next three months

it would launch another range of new models.
