MindTree strengthens India presence

BANGALORE, INDIA: MindTree Limited, a global IT and R&D services company, announced the appointment of P K Gopalakrishnan as senior vice president and head of its India operations.

Gopalakrishnan would hold business responsibility for Indian enterprises, defense and government sectors across both IT Services and R&D Services businesses. He would also help in building MindTree’s System Integration (SI) capability, which the organization is strongly intent on acquiring along with its existing base of services.

Krishnakumar Natarajan, CEO, MindTree, said: “India has been a key market for us since our inception, and we see it playing an even more important role going forward. Indian enterprises, government and defense establishments offer substantial growth opportunities for us. In fact, they are increasingly looking at partners who can handle large projects for them and provide end-to-end services. In this context, Gopalakrishan, with his rich work experience, will help grow our footprint in the Indian market place immensely."

Gopalakrishnan brings with him 23 years of extensive experience in the industry. Prior to joining MindTree he worked with Wipro, where he was responsible for the Government and Defense industry vertical in India, which contributed $75 million in revenues in 2007-‘08. Gopalakrishnan is an MBA from IIM-Bangalore, and a BTech (Mechanical) from Osmania University.
