NEW DELHI: Post Nokia acquisition, software giant Microsoft is gearing up for launch of new smartphone launches across various price points and brands.

Chakrapani Gollapali, Microsoft's country GM (consumer channels group) told The Economic Times that: "I think in the next three months, you will see some really aggressive portfolio expansion,"

According to Gartner, while Android dominates the global gadgets market and Apple's iOS the premium segment, Microsoft's Windows OS failed to make any cut with consumers as well as manufacturers, especially as it charged a license fee on hardware makers. Windows-powered phones held only 3pc of the global smartphone market last year while in the tablet segment, they accounted for 2pc share.
