Microsoft-ICICI launch XBox 360 co-branded credit card

NEW DELHI: Microsoft and ICICI today has entered into a strategic tie-up to launch a co-branded credit card.

Mohit Anand, country manager of Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, India and Sachin Khandelwal, head of Cards product group with ICICI bank launched the card here today, in the presence of Bollywood actor and XBox 360 brand ambassador Akshay Kumar.

Talking to the media about the initiative, Anand said that the card was part of the company’s aim to explore innovative strategic tie-ups that help consumers leverage the benefits of digital entertainment products, which has now become vital constituents of today’s lifestyle.

“The co-branded card would offer the XBox 360 buyer to avail of payment options such as Equated Monthly Instalments (EMI’s) and discounts not only on XBox but also on all other Microsoft products, be it hardware or software’s,” he informed adding that the discounts can also be availed with other partner companies.

Commenting on the partnership, Khandelwal, said that the unique partnership would give ICICI bank, an ideal opportunity to tap the growing co-branded segment.

“With this we aim to target the youth, who would be turning into prospective consumers in the coming years,” he said.

He was of the view that such tie-ups would increase the buying capacity of the consumer as for the digital entertainment products are concerned, as compared to other modes of payment, as EMI on credit cards, offers much-more flexibility for the consumer.
