The software has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the behest of the Ministry of Rural Development for e-governance of NREGA. Through this software, every minute detail about implementation of NREGA is now available online.

A citizen can now access information about the individual laborer and the duration for which he/she has worked under NREGA and details of wages that has been paid. With this software, the Government can track every single rupee.

The Rural Development Ministry had asked the NIC to develop software for effective monitoring of NREGA in the beginning of the year 2006. The team of NIC engineers headed by Madhuri Sharma, technical director, has developed the software, which is in use in almost all the States across the country.
