NEW DELHI, INDIA: Software major Microsoft has promoted Karan Bajwa as its new managing director for sales and marketing operations. Bajwa has been serving as the public affairs group director since 2007.
During his stint at Microsoft, Bajwa led the company's government business and fostered new relationships. He was primarily responsible for e-Governance initiatives and enterprise business.
Bajwa will take over with effect from July 1, 2013, and will report to Microsoft India chairman Bhaskar Pramanik. He has close to two decades of industry experience and worked with Tulip Telecom, prior to joining Microsoft.
The incumbent Microsoft MD Sanket Akerkar who joined the company in 2003 is moving back to the US awaiting new assignments.
