Fortunately or unfortunately, technology makes sure that we are at work all the time, even while driving the car. A new project, known as “In Car Office” from the German automaker, Mercedes hopes to feed your workaholic habits by adding both Microsoft Exchange support and integrations with your work calendar into your vehicle.
The objective isn’t exactly to let you work from your Mercedes, but the new features will help you become more productive while you’re on the go. For example,it'll auto-populate your car's navigation unit with driving directions for that upcoming meeting, for example, or offer to make a hands-free call to get in touch with your client when you're on your way.
The exact details and specifications are still being guarded by the two companies but thankfully, you won't have to wait too long to try this out - In Car Office will reach Mercedes cars sometime in the first half of 2017.
Microsoft has worked with other car companies before to bring productivity to the pavement, joining forces with Volvo earlier this year to bring some of Office 365’s functionality into its cars. But while other big tech companies are working on the autonomous technology of their own, Microsoft seems content just helping for now.
