Micronet SP3924 is a new standard for exceedingly secure, remotely-managed and safe-to-use Power over Ethernet Midspan, which permit an integrated supply of data, voice, video and power through a single access point by sending power over standard Cat 5 and above twisted pair cables, eliminating the need for bulky AC adapters.

The Power over Ethernet Midspan enhances the reliability of Ethernet devices, such as IP telephones, wireless LAN access points and Web-cameras. SP3924 24-port Power over Ethernet Midspan provides Full Power for up to 24 PoE terminals without replacing existing Ethernet switch.

The key features of the New Micronet SP3924 are that it is compliant with IEEE 802.3af standard providing full power of 400 Watts distributed over 24 ports with 15.4 watts at each port and also supports manual power management power port to enable / disable, powered device detection, power classification, power port operation status, fault status detection, auto shut-down for power overload and system status detection. It also supports the abnormal event alerting and redundant DC power input.

The specifications of the new SP3924 are that it has the interface of 24 x DATA IN RJ-45 Ethernet ports, 24 x DATA OUT PoE Injector RJ-45 Ethernet ports and 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port for in-band management. It works in the operating temperature ranging between 0 – 45 degree C, 5%~95%RH with the operating humidity ranging between -40 – 70 degree C, 95% RH and the dimension of the product is 440mm x 224mm x 44mm (W x D x H) which weighs only 2.7kg.

The key features of Micronet SP3908 is similar to the SP3924 and the only difference between them is that SP3908 has the interface of 8 x DATA IN RJ-45 Ethernet ports, 8 x DATA OUT PoE Injector RJ-45 Ethernet ports and 1 x RS-232 console port. The PoE power current needed is 125 Watts (per system maximum) with operating temperature ranging between 0 – 45 degree C and the storage temperature of -40 – 70 degree C. the product operates in the humidity ranging between 10% - 90% with the dimension of 440 x 224 x 44 mm (L x W x H) and weighs only 2.95kg.

The USP of the product is that its power management needs the Minimal Network Downtime as its once powered on, Midspan starts to a negotiation process with all connected data terminals with full power delivery and is highly cost saving as there is no need to pay for the deployment of power line that is to power Ethernet devices. It has more flexibility and has the centralized power distribution providing cost-effective distribution of backed-up power and ensures uninterrupted network operation.

Deepak Sharma, Business Development Manager, Micronet (India), "Power over Ethernet market is not so popular in India but surely it is going to grow aggressively as the market matures. It is simply because, Indian power condition is not at all good and the sensitive equipments, attached to the network, require clean power, which PoE is only able to assure of. The advantage with Micronet SP3924/SP3908 Power over Ethernet Midspan is that it provides QoS at a very competitive price point."
