Mercury plans to expand in India

Mercury India is planning expansion of their business in smaller cities, aimed at reaching more clients in application delivery market. In an exclusive interview with Bhaskar Hazarika of CyberMedia News, senior director, Marketing and Communications, Asia-Pacific, Mercury, Darryl Dickens revealed his plans for expanding his company's business. What is your global market share in Application Delivery (Software Testing)? What is your market share in India compared to the global market?

We are the world leader in Application Delivery (Software Testing). According to an IDC report, we have a global market share of 58.8 percent. Regarding India, the market share is increasing every quarter. Compared to the global market, the growth in the Asia-Pacific including India is more. The market share in India is around 59 percent, which is steadily increasing. Mercury is one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies today and conducts business in more than 35 countries.

How do you see the growth of the India market in Application Delivery?

India is a unique market, which offers a brilliant market for high quality solutions for big software houses. India has the potential for high growth in the coming years, which could be proved by the fact that more global players are eyeing the Indian market today. The rapid growth in the market is attracting more players in this market. Even compared to China, the opportunity for Application Delivery market is vast and promising in India.

India has a rapidly growing technology market and companies have begun to emphasize more on the quality of applications, as it determines the success or failure of their business. The rising volume in outsourcing and compliance issues has led companies to take a strategic approach to optimizing application delivery across the entire application quality ecosystem. Mercury's technology and products helps companies measure and maximize business value across IT to ensure critical applications meet quality, performance, and availability goals.

Do you have any expansion plans in India?

We already have our presence in number of locations across the country through the help of our partners. We have also offices in three cities in India- Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. But we are looking for expansion of our business to smaller cities as well. This would help us to reach more clients in this market segment.

Do you offer any courses on software testing for the industry professionals? How is the response of the courses?

We do offer training programmes on software testing. We offer these training through our partners here. We have three partners in India who carry out these training programmes. These partners have their lab facility to carry out the testing programmes for the candidates.

These trainings are not only for the industry professionals, as it does not require any experience in this field. A large number of fresh graduates have undergone this training till now. This year we are planning to train 6000 to 8000 candidates for this course. The response has been positive till now, which has encouraged targeting more candidates into this training this year.

Which are the companies you are focusing on for the growth your company in India?

Nearly 90 percent of the Fortune 100 companies and dozens of government agencies globally rely on us to align IT with business goals, lower IT costs and risks, and optimize for growth.

Our main focus is on financial service and telecom sectors, which have a huge potential for contributing to the market share.
