WILSONVILLE, USA: Mentor Graphics Corp, a provider of Automated Test Pattern Generation (ATPG) and embedded test pattern compression technology, has sealed its acquisition of San Jose-based chip test technology vendor LogicVision Inc.

Meanwhile, though the announcement in this regard has come, the acquisition price has been kept under wraps. However, it is being believed that former LogicVision stockholders will receive 0.2006 share of Mentor Graphics common stock in exchange for each share of LogicVision common stock, which valued the deal at about $13 million in May 2009.

Post-deal, Mentor believes that its Automated Test Pattern Generation and embedded test pattern compression technology will now be complemented by LogicVision's Built-in-Self-Test (BIST) technologies for testing today's System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, said a report.

Elaborating further, James Healy, former president and CEO of LogicVision, said "the partnership we started over two years ago that integrated the Mentor TestKompress ATPG and compression tool with the LogicVision ScanBurst at-speed scan technology paved the way for a successful merger of the organizations”.

He added that the two companies now plan to build on that cooperation to address the critical challenges of silicon test, such as cost-effective nanometer SoC testing, extreme pattern compression, advanced at-speed testing, embedded memory test and repair, high-speed I/O testing, and leveraging test data for rapid yield analysis.
