Maxtor offers a terabyte in new storage solution

NEW DELHI: The Maxtor Corporation today announced its new Maxtor OneTouch III turbo edition external storage solution with capacity to the tune of one terabyte (1,000 GB).

The turbo edition external storage solution takes the complexities out of RAID and delivers a simple to use and easy to understand solution for the consumer mass market. “Our job is to help protect our customers' digital lives. We want data backup and protection to be virtually effortless,” said Craig Davis, Sales and Marketing Manager, branded products Group, Asia Pacific Maxtor.

Davis said that the product is ideal for more advanced users and creative professionals such as videographers, photographers and graphic artists who require high performance and high capacity. It is the industry first two-drive solution that is user configurable as RAID 0 or RAID 1. It also has added Sync, a feature with the ability to automatically syncronise files between two or more systems on the same operating platform.

Yogesh Kamat, country manager, Indian, Maxtor said that the external storage and backup solution have come with a data security feature called Maxtor DriveLock, providing a password protection option to safeguard contents if the drive is ever lost or stolen. The OneTouch III, turbo edition is priced at Rs.32, 500 for 600GB and Rs.44, 997.5 for 1 terabyte.

Apart from the external storage solution, Maxtor has come up with its new Shared Storage Plus solution, offering users a new three-in-one network drive that provides shared storage, data backup and media streaming for home or small office networks. Davis said that Shared Storage Plus solution is targeted for the Small and Medium Business (SMB).

“It will allow SMBs to easily backup, centralize, organize and share data on a network. Using our company integrated Maxtor backup software, SMBs will be able to easily back up data from their PCs to the new Shared Storage Plus drive for added protection,” Davis added. The new drive, with capacities of up to a half terabyte (500GB), is also the company's first network drive.
