BANGALORE: Marlabs India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marlabs Inc., is setting up a captive center for Builders Homesite Inc. (BHI), a marketing and technology solutions provider for the home building industry. BHI, founded by a consortium of 32 large builders in the USA represents approximately $80 billion dollars in gross revenues for 2003. The captive center would be housed at the Marlabs Global Delivery Center in Bangalore.

Krishna Murthy, Chief Technology Officer, BHI, USA, on his visit to India for the establishment of the captive center, said “Captive offshoring posses lesser risks to the business organization than any other forms like third party outsourcing, since dedicated management from the parent company directly oversees the offshore operations. When firms set up captive centers, they embrace a global sourcing proposition, relinquish their fears of distance, different time zones and feel at ease with differing culture. The captive center would allow BHI gain cost advantage, by reducing operating costs through flexible, need-based staffing and work conditions. The initial ramp up is in progress and if things go well, I only see more and more work being outsourced here.”

Speaking on this business establishment, S K Patil, Chief Executive Officer, Marlabs India, said “We are quite happy that BHI chose us over other larger firms for their growing outsourcing requirements. The relationship not only allows us to showcase our technology and delivery strengths but also helps us build deep domain knowledge in a vertical not many Indian IT firms have ventured. We look forward to growing together.”

Founded in 2000, BHI’s owned by 32 of the USA’s largest builders with revenues worth US$ 80 billion and responsible for over 290,000 new homes in thirty states across the continental US. The company’s growing range of products and services are revolutionizing the way homes are marketed on the Internet.
