The Committee will provide ample opportunity to the applicants to explain their cases so as to minimise further queries, if any, in the matter. The Committee will also give necessary clarifications and advice to the intending applicants. For this purpose the committee has decided to meet on every Monday at a fixed time. Once the Committee has given its clarifications and advice, applications complete in all respects will be accepted. The committee will consist Joint Secretary (Telecom), Deputy Director General (Basic Services) and Deputy Director General ( Value Added Services).

It may be recalled that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in November 2005 simplified the procedures for NLD and ILD Licences so as to facilitate the growth of the IT and IT enabled services in the country. As such, the DoT has so far received applications from 15 and 6 major companies in respect of NLD license and ILD license respectively which are pending at different stages of processing.
