MapmyIndia launches the Explore app for Windows phone

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Location-based service provider, MapmyIndia has announced the launch of Explore app for Windows 8 phones.

The Explore app for Windows 8 is free, said a company release.

The application helps the users to find millions of useful places of interest like ATMs, restaurants, petrol pumps, hospitals etc. around them, the release added.

Apart from being a city guide the free app has a social interface also. The users can pin favorite hangouts, rate and review popular places around their location and follow other "Explorers".

Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia said: "This social-navigation app is the third in the series of apps we have launched for the Windows 8 platform. The Locate app and Real-time traffic on MapmyIndia maps have generated an overwhelming user response on both Windows and Android platforms."

"We will soon make ‘Explore' available to Android users," he said.

Some of the features that are avialable on the free app includes search places and favorites, city guide, users can customize Explore, social interface and make use of India's best maps.
