NEW DELHI: Chennai-based Man Machine Systems, the software development
company, has released version 2.0 of JCover, its popular Java code coverage
analyzer.
This release supports both statement and branch coverages, the most commonly
used coverage measures in the industry. Statement coverage requires that each
executable statement in the source is executed at least once, whereas branch
coverage requires that all possible outcomes of a conditional statement
are executed at least once.
The new edition also incorporates support for coverage differencing. This
particular feature allows you to load the coverage data file corresponding to
multiple executions of the application to determine the differences in coverage.
This differencing is based on a set-theoretic model and helps a Java tester
understand potential redundancies in the test suite.
"Code coverage analysis is an important step in software testing. As a
white box testing strategy, it helps the testing team to determine if adequate
testing has been conducted. Coverage analysis done with JCover reveals areas of
the code that have not been exercised during testing ", says Man Machine
Systems chief executive officer, K Rangarajan.
JCover works on Windows platforms and can be used to test client as well as
server-side application. This upgrade is available free of charge to customers
who bought JCover in the past one year.
