The Indian company will support vehicle infotainment applications such as music, news and multimedia, navigation and location services, telephone, internet services and more, said a press release.

“Mahindra Satyam's global business and IT services expertise will be a welcome addition to GENIVI and will help us with our mission of delivering an open platform for the non-competitive portions of the IVI software,” said Graham Smethurst, GENIVI president.

With this, Mahindra Satyam will adopt an open source In-Vehicle Infotainment reference platform and drive development of globally competitive infotainment solutions, the release added.

The company will leverage GENIVI specifications and implementation guidelines to develop Infotainment solutions to Automotive OEMs and Tier-1s to reduce development costs and time to market and the overall total cost of ownership for end consumers.
