Maha Govt. to deploy 2k more machines for Aadhaar registration

MUMBAI, INDIA: The Maharashtra Government is in plans to deploy 2,000 new machines for registration of Aadhaar cards. The new machines will be deployed in remote areas which would be easily accessible from national highways and rail heads.

The State Information and Technology (IT) Department, has placed work orders for 2,000 kits which will be used to register people for Aadhaar cards.

"This will lead to an increase in capacity by around 50 percent in the state which has 4,399 operational machines in 1,744 active registration centres run by both-- state and non-state registrars (like banks)," a DNA report quoted Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of Maharashtra Information Technology (IT) department, as saying.

As on May 10, 2013, nearly 53% people of Maharashtra have enrolled for Aadhaar cards.
