To accomplish this, the company has published a crowd speaking campaign, requesting its users, customers and open source software enthusiasts from all around the world to support the cause by connecting to social media and agreeing to join in a cumulative voice that is due to be heard in the form of either a Facebook or Twitter status update on the 23rd of January 2014.

"Support Macecraft Software by spreading the word about its initiative to release jv16 PowerTools as Open Source is the message that will be broadcasted all over the world via a Thunderclap.it campaign which is the most popular social media campaign in the service at the moment. The message will be seen over 350,000 people at the mentioned date.

"We want to sell the product to the user community," said Jouni Flemming, lead developer of Macecraft Software.

"Instead of selling the product to our competitors or looking for other funding options, we decided we wanted to do what has never been done before: use crowd funding to sell an existing, commercial software product to the user community by converting the product to free, open source software," added Flemming.
