LR Swami Group launches LR Narayanan Internet Club

The popular name heard in the radio, "Ungal Nanban" LR Narayanan, has started an

Internet Club in association with LRS Netjoint Compu-drome at LR Swami Buildings,

Teynampet, Chennai. The objective of the club is to spread awareness about the Internet,

according to Narayanan.






The club, for a membership fee of Rs 999 and Rs 555 per year and six months, respectively,
goes toward free Internet training, free use of its library of magazines, books and CDs,

subsidized charges for browsing in the Internet center and using the computers, free issue

of DQ Week Madras and a periodical seminar.






On the inaugural day, a seminar on the Internet was held with cine actor N
Charuhasan, the

Ham (radio) and Internet exponent, as the special speaker. In his speech,

Charuhasan,

spoke on the history of the Net and explained how the Ham radio's packet switching was the

forerunner for the Internet's protocol. He also elaborated on the use of Internet for

global communication.
