Yes, it is true, if you are looking for a job, then just a resume might not be the right answer. In order to land up into a good firm and get placed at the right place, you need to clean up your social media profiles as well. Most organisations now do a basic check of candidates on social media.

So, it is better to have a presentable, clear and socially acceptable “image” on the world wide web. Many of us do not wish to be friends with the boss on Facebook, but research hows that we should. According to a recent survey from Career Builder nearly 2,200 hiring managers and more than 3,000 workers, 60% of employers screen job candidates’ social media pages. That’s up from 52% last year, and stands in sharp contrast to the mere 11% who checked out profiles a decade ago.

Which means your presence on social networks can actually be an asset in the job search. Six in 10 employers told surveyors they’re looking for things like a professional portfolio that would illustrate a candidate’s ability to do the job.  Another striking number is that a 49% of managers said they’ve dumped candidates because of things on their social media pages.

Gone are the days when managers just checked your facebook, Twitter an LinkedIn. They are now looki g at everything from Instagram, Yelp, and even Glass Door. So, make sure you are social resume is also equally responsive and responsible as your professional one.
