Linux OS for Raspberry Pi ready for download

BANGALORE, INDIA: The Linux operating system for the Raspberry Pi bare-bones computer is ready for download, the official website said.

The organization said that the Arch Linux ARM, based on Arch Linux, aims for simplicity and provides full control to the end user. It also has a lightweight base to shape the system according to the consumer's needs.

The company warns that Linux 'may not be suitable for beginners' as Arch Linux ARM image for the Raspberry Pi does not come with a graphical user interface for ease of use of the above mentioned features.

The people familiar with this set up, however, can 'easily' install one themselves. The company also claims that the security flaws in the load balancer system have also been taken care of.

The company has requested people to download from its site as they could keep a tab on the number of  downloads and use the details to make rough estimations on sales.

The official website also mentioned that Arch Linux ARM was on a rolling-release cycle that could be updated daily through small packages instead of huge updates every few months.

The credit-card-sized computer has generated huge interest since its inception, with thousands of people pre-registering to buy it for £22.
