LifeSize intros desktop video conferencing

MUMBAI, INDIA: LifeSize Communications, provider of high-definition video communications, announced LifeSize Desktop, a standalone video conferencing solution that delivers HD video communications from a PC.

LifeSize Desktop works with off-the-shelf web cams and is performance-optimized for contemporary PC's, allowing knowledge workers to stay connected to colleagues, customers, or partners from virtually anywhere in the world, whether in the office, at home, or while traveling.

LifeSize's HD video communications enables remote communications as naturally as in-person meetings. With LifeSize Desktop provides a solution to extend video communications to mobile user. It delivers HD video decode at 720p, 30 frames per second, in full 16:9 format, as well as HD audio with echo cancellation for productive collaboration.

Its low CPU utilization enables HD video calls even with multiple concurrent applications running on the PC. Remote users can easily connect and receive high quality video at any bandwidth, over the corporate VPN or through LifeSize Transit, for secure NAT/Firewall traversal.

The solution is a standalone software client with intuitive interface provides a common user experience from the desktop to the conference room. The application is standards-based and interoperable with other SIP-based desktop or room-based video communications systems.

With LifeSize Desktop installed on their PC, the company claims that knowledge workers can stay virtually connected even when they are away from their primary office environment.

For example, organizations can deploy a LifeSize Room 200 or Team 200 system with integrated multipoint in their conference room, and meet face-to-face with team members who may be traveling or in remote locations. LifeSize Desktop users can participate in the meeting as any other video system, enabling collaboration in high definition.
