LG's new SmartTV range banks on FPR, WiDi technologies

NEW DELHI, INDIA: LG Electronics, one of the major entertainment and electronics products and solutions company today unveiled an array of Cinema 3D Smart TVs, including world’s slimmest Bezel TV.

The electronics major which eyes at 50 per cent market share and a business of Rs 1,000 crore in the 3D technology segment in 2012, said that they want to be on top in the flat panel TV market.

LG India MD Soon Kwon said that they are focusing to keep the technology enjoyable for consumers. “Equipped with enhanced features, LG is leveraging LG patented LPR technology with pre-engineered 3D technology,” Kwon said. 

The company is banking high on its technological innovations and said that it would facilitate consumers in a big way. “Our unique and proprietary LG FPR technology is not available with any of our competitor,” it said. 

The entertainment heavyweight also said that new TV range features voice recognition, gesturing and scrolling. It also boosts to have app portal that provides a variety of downloadable content.

LG India marketing head Rishi Tandon said that Intel’s WiDi (wireless display) technology enables easy and fast connection between TV and laptop or PC without wire line or Internet network.

With SmartShare, Tandon said that users can transfer content from a mobile device to TV with no virtual connection. The content can be controlled with a TV remote. The company, he informed also incorporated IPS technology in panels.

The company, with gala launch, wants to exploit 3D leadership in the market with technology exposure. LG now offers 3D LED, 3D Ultra Slim, 3D Home Theater systems, 3D Blu ray payers.

The company said that they will introduce much awaited 3D OLED EM 9600 before the end of 2012.
