LG bets big on retail for IT products

NEW DELHI: Korean electronics major, LG has is betting on retail way for its IT products.

R Manikandan, general manager, Sales & Marketing, IT Products LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd, told CyberMedia News from Chennai that the IT division would go retail in a big way and has adopted a three-level strategy for increasing sales in India.

“We are expanding our retail base at various levels. The first one would be LG Cyber Shoppe, which will market the Challenger series of desktops, LG E-zones would be the next level, which will be an exclusive outlet for our IT products, and these would be run by the tier-2 partners. The third level will be LG’s presence in multi-brand outlets across the country,” he informed.

“While the company plans to increase the existing LG Cyber Shoppe from 64 to 100 by Q-1 2007, there would be about 10 to 20 E-zones in A and B class cities. In both the cases, we will have direct relationship with the customers. The increase in the multi-brand would however be an ongoing process,” he said further. 

“The retail expansion plans are aimed to increase the sales as well as the revenue of the company’s IT division, to contribute to about 40 to 50 per cent to the overall turn-over of LG Electronics India,” he said adding that the current revenue share was at 30 per cent.
