We are moving faster than the estimated five years time in extending our brand as ‘Lenovo’ and distancing from IBM,” he added.

“In the last two years, we gave focus on four elements. First, we extended our transactional model from China to global market. Second, our supply chain management is best in class outside China. Third, our desktop business inside China is highly profitable now we are showing profitability in desktop in other parts of the market also and the fourth element is to build a global brand,” said Amelio.

He said the company’s main objective after the acquisition of IBM’s PC business was to stabilize the business and to keep focus on product engineering. “We want to be the number one player. More than that, we want to define the product engineering to the world. Financially we want to grow faster than the industry,” he added.
