Features: HCL Infosystems has launched “defense-ready” laptops in

India, one among the company's series of segment-specific leaptops.






The leaptop for defense forces has rugged die-cast magnesium structural
components, GPS enablement, 'on-move' chargeability and backlit keyboards to

enable work in pitch-dark conditions, HCL said in a statement.






With the optional HDD heaters, the leaptop can keep on ticking in operating
temperature -20 ˚ to 55 ˚ C and Storage temperature -40 ˚ to 70

˚ C.HCL Leaptops








The hard disk drive is shock mounted to prevent HDD crash in case of notebook
fall. Another feature is the USB based wireless lock in which the computer

enters 'Lock Mode' when the user is away from the computer by more than the

effective range (around 2m) and will resume normal operation when the user is

back within the effective range.






The Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) technology allows users to
dynamically and seamlessly travel in their active sessions between LAN, PAN,

WLAN and WWAN.






The leaptops are GPS-enabled that helps in its tracking remotely and has a
number of built-in antennas for wireless communication.






Besides defence applications, these leaptops can also be used during other
highly-demanding applications such as mining areas, oil exploration sites,

construction sites, automobile manufacturing, shop floors, etc.
