DALLAS, USA: layerX Technologies has announced its new information technology (IT) search tool called PUNQ.

PUNQ, an acronym for Portable Utility for Network Query, is a desktop application that allows IT managers to collect, analyze, search and store IT events gathered from the network infrastructure including system logs, SNMP traps, network probe information and more.

PUNQ has an integrated “Google-like” search interface that enables IT managers to search through millions of network events within seconds to pinpoint the most relevant IT events and effectively troubleshoot network problems. IT managers can also use PUNQ to upload historical data to further analyze IT event trends.

“On any given day, an enterprise network will experience millions of network events throughout their network,” said Mike Kay, vice president of business development for layerX Technologies.

“IT search is the first critical step in providing quick visibility into event data. With PUNQ, IT managers now have the power to quickly analyze millions of events without having to deploy costly IT search tools,” added Kay.

“By giving away PUNQ, layerX Technologies is allowing IT managers a no-risk opportunity to experience the power of its IT search capabilities,” said Dr. Jim Metzler, vice president of Ashton, Metzler and Associates.

“Once IT managers see how quickly PUNQ provides the intelligence they need to make smart decisions, they will get a glimpse into the broader benefits of Arbitrator, which include automating responses to IT events and freeing up time to attend to more strategic IT issues,” added Metzler.
