The scope of the project involves migrating Lawson's retail applications to the J2EE platform, to enhance performance, improve interoperability and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for clients. This initiative with PSI will strengthen Lawson Software's Merchandising software solution to provide greater value to its global clients.

The product's thin-client architecture based on Java/J2EE technology platform will enable retailers to install and support the software in one location while offering access to users from any PC with an Internet connection. It will also enable retailers with geographically distributed operations to reduce overall IT costs by performing Web-based maintenance and upgrades.

As Lawson's business partner, PSI will manage the technology upgrades for the next-generation retail operations software.

Speaking on the occasion Sampath Iyengar, CEO, PSI Data Systems remarked, "We are pleased about our growing relationship with Lawson Software. PSI has a strongly differentiated value proposition for High Tech companies such as Lawson. Our multi-dimensional partnership model helps our clients deliver superior value to their marketplace."

On a similar note, Dale Christopherson, director, Retail Product Development, Lawson Software said, "Over the last two years, Lawson and PSI Data Systems have worked together on several projects. We trust PSI's expertise and commitment and this contract is a reflection of the relationship going to the next level. Our commitment to the retail sector will be reinforced by our joint efforts to deliver reliable and highly functional retail solutions to our clients."
