CASTLE - PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SITE:

Castle, part of YC’s winter 2016 class, is trying to bring the property industry up to date with its automated property management platform. With a blend of technology and on-demand labor, this site connects all the hard ends of property retailing such as property listing and marketing, tenant screening, rent collection and maintenance into an easy to use interface. The platform is live only for property owners in Detroit, and will be expanding soon to other U.S. cities.

Already stated as one of the best innovations in South Africa in recent years, Find & Fix app also known as Pothole app is playing a crucial role in turning Johannesburg into a ‘smart city.’ The application which was created in 2014 by Intervate for the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) to improve their ‘reachability’ and consumer service allows road users report road-related defects at the click of a button. It is available for Smartphone’s with the Windows 8, Android, or iOS operating system.

BUGATTI CHIRON:

Bugatti had set the world of the sports car on fire with its 1,000 horsepower VEYRON in 2005. CHIRON ups the ante with a total power output of 1,500hp. The new Chiron turns the Veyron's ultimate specs up another cut. In the words of company president Wolfgang Dürheimer- "The Chiron is the result of our efforts to make the best even better."

Chiron can burst from 0 to 62mph in less than 2.5 seconds, four enlarged turbochargers and will cost about $2.6 million. The highest speed is limited to 420km/h for road use, the wheels have been uniquely developed by a Bugatti-Michelin partnership, and the 8-liter W16 engine of the Veyron has been thoroughly redesigned. Only 500 Chiron will be produced, and a third of them have already been sold.

MCDONALDS' HAPPY GOGGLES:

McDonald's is releasing Happy Meal boxes that can turn into VR headsets called Happy Goggles. The company, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Happy Meal in Sweden, will manufacture about 3,500 Happy Goggles at 14 restaurants in the Nordic country over the weekends of March 5 and March 12. McDonald's Happy Goggles will be combined with "Slope Stars" a 360-degree virtual reality skiing game endorsed by the Swedish National Ski Team. Each box will sell for around $4.10, according to AdWeek.

LG's NEWSPAPER TV:

At CES conference 2016, LG declared that it has created a TV monitor that has a diameter of less than a millimeter, allowing it to roll like a newspaper or hang on a wall with magnets. LG has used new OLED technology and its knowledge of old LCD technology to create an 18-inch, 1-millimeter-thick TV screen allowing the screen to be malleable and bend. While the newspaper TV concept is not yet ready for market, it blends the old and the new in such a way that it is a viable alternative to both current televisions and how people consume content.
