KPN outsources internal helpdesk service to Logica

BANGALORE, INDIA: Logica, a leading IT and business services company, today announced a multi year €22m outsourcing deal with KPN, Netherlands.

From February, KPN will outsource its service desk for business applications to Logica. Through this service, Logica will manage questions and issues KPN may face with their IT systems on a daily basis.  A total of 40 jobs will be outsourced to Logica.

Logica will manage the first line help desk service for KPN. This support which is accessible by phone, e-mail and Internet will enable staff to get prompt help with questions related to over 700 KPN business applications. Logica will also provide related activities such as the provision of management reports.

This contract underlines the confidence of KPN in Logica’s service. Previously KPN entrusted Logica with the work of the HR shared service center as well as the application management of strategic network information. Respectively 65 and 12 jobs were outsourced to Logica.

In carrying out this contract for Service Desk applications, Logica will leverage its blended delivery model, where for each activity the most suitable cost effective location and resource is considered. The handling of questions and disturbances will primarily take place from Logica’s operations in the Netherlands and India. In addition, provision of management reports will come largely from India.

Commenting on the deal, Han Wijns, KPN IT Netherlands Innovation Director, said “Outsourcing service desk operations is part of the sourcing strategy of KPN IT Netherlands. This strategy is designed to farm out work outside our core business, to specialized parties. We chose Logica because of the good experience we had with previous outsourcing deals with them. Specifically their strength of how an appropriate solution is put together with continuity in service and for the benefit of employees. Furthermore the quality of service will be improved.’
