“Technology implementation is a key for the growth of any industry,” endorsed Aruna Rao, group CTO, Kotak Mahindra Bank. And with these words, she set the tone of the WomenTechShip event organized by the 10,000 Start-ups unit of Nasscom.

Taking a leaf out of the services industry, Rao said, “Like e-commerce and e-ticketing services have transformed the retail, entertainment and related industries, e- and m-banking are transforming the banking segment.”

Commenting on the future trends, she said, “Mobile banking will play a vital role. The influx of low cost mobile devices  coupled with Internet penetration will be the chief driver. People may not literate, but they do know how to use a mobile phone.”
