Know your HDD with Western Digital

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Western Digital has embarked on a nationwide educational initiative titled ‘Know your HDD'. The initiative is aimed at educating students of engineering colleges and hardware training institutes on the need and functionality of hard drives.

As part of the first leg of this program, WD has tied up with Jetking Infotrain, Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT) and Jagannath Gupta Institute of Engineering and Technology (JNIT), and has started training sessions with their students. As the initiative advances, the company plans to extend it to other engineering colleges and hardware training institutes across India.

Speaking on this initiative, Sharad Srivastava, Director—Asia Sales, Western Digital said, “The digital explosion has triggered a download revolution, thereby creating an ever-increasing need for appropriate storage devices. Ever since we started the campaign in August 2008, we completed our training with over 5,000 students from these institutes. We plan to reach out to a total of 7,500 students by the end of June 2009.”

“We have organized a series of workshops on the hard drive technologies in collaboration with Western Digital. These workshops have been of immense benefit to our students. It has helped them to gain insights into the internals of hard drives and also familiarized them with the latest trends in the HDD technology,” averred Guruprasad Shenai, Head—Technology and Curriculum, Jetking Infotrain.

“Our partnership with Western Digital has been very successful in equipping our students with the requisite know-how on hard drives. We hope that initiative continues to grow steadier and more extensive over a period of time,” added Dr Rohit Jain, Vice Principal, JNIT, Jaipur.
