Qualcomm Internet of Everything Connection Manager: Deepening Qualcomm's IoE portfolio is the new Qualcomm Internet of Everything Connection Manager (IoE CM), an application-level connectivity framework designed to make it easier for system designers and application developers to access the power of Qualcomm Gobi 3G/4G LTE modem chipsets.

It is designed to provide a simplified high-level application programming interface that allows access to the cellular modem's many capabilities, as well as enables faster and easier application development on the integrated processor present in Gobi MDM9x15 chipsets. Full press note below.

Internet of Everything Kit by Etherios: Making it faster to build a cellular connected product, Etherios announced the Internet of Everything Kit featuring the Qualcomm QSC6270-Turbo chipset, with support for Oracle Java ME. It eliminates the need for a separate processor because it enables applications to be programmed directly on the chipset.

Talluri presented demos on what to expect in future smartphones - including depth-of-field camera technology, 360 degree video technology, and UltraHD with 5.1 surround sound - and provided practical advice for developers on how to incorporate Snapdragon's powerful capabilities into applications.

Rob Chandhok's Super Session: On day one, the president of Qualcomm Interactive Platforms held a super session on Qualcomm's Internet of Everything philosophy and how developers can approach the Internet of Everything utilizing the AllJoyn software development framework.

Chandhok discussed the building blocks of AllJoyn (security, privacy, programmability and scale), the use cases for direct peer connection/communication among devices and apps near the user, and the vast array of new opportunities created by proximal networking.

Partner device launches: Multiple Snapdragon-enabled devices were announced this week including the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet (Snapdragon 600), the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone (Snapdragon 800), the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 5.7 inch phablet (certain versions will include Snapdragon 800), Acer Liquid S2 (Snapdragon 800) and the HTC Desire 601 (Snapdragon 400).

Xiaomi Smartphone and Smart TV: Yesterday at a concurrent event taking place in Beijing, Xiaomi launched its flagship Mi3 smartphone featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor supporting EV-DO and WCDMA. Also announced yesterday in Beijing, was Xiaomi's miTV Smart TV that will feature Snapdragon 600 processor.
