Kerala firm's snake and ladder hits iPhone

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA: Saamp Aur Seedi is taking the m-route. Snake and Ladder, the exciting traditional Indian board game popular among the young and old alike, is now turning out to be a major hit on the iPhone and iTouch.

The Snakes and Ladders game, developed by Thiruvananthapuram Technopark-based Travancore Analytics, which is into the development of software in the areas of Imaging Technology and Image Processing, has turned out to be one among the most favorite free-downloads at App Store.

According to a company official, the game has managed as many as 2,50,000 downloads in the past week alone, which is the highest for an iPhone application developed by any Indian software company. More than 70 per cent of the download have been from Canada, the UK and the US.

The free version of the game allows the user to be one of the players, while the iPhone itself takes the role of the second player. At present, the Snake and Ladder application occupies the numero uno position in 12 App Stores worldwide, the official said.

Travancore Analytics, founded by T Harikumar, the current CEO and Baas Mannarsala, the present CTO, has under its fold a wide range of software products, including those aimed at assisting radio diagnosis such as detection of breast cancer, analysis of tumor, wound healing which are currently in the development stage.
