MUMBAI: Bangalore-based Radiant Infosystems, has introduced Awatar (Any Where
Any Time Advanced Reservation System), a transport online passenger-booking
project, in association with KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation)
today.
Awatar was designed, developed and implemented by Radiant Infosystems on an
IBM platform, around Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).
This software will enable customers to book tickets online to various
destinations across the state; from the comfort of home or office or anywhere in
the world. Passengers can also check arrival and departure information,
cancellations and wait-listed status via mobile phones, palmtops or e-mail.
C Narayanacharyulu, director, Radiant, said, “We look forward to developing
such effective solutions beneficial to both the state and its citizens. Now that
the Government is planning to open 1000 kiosks in rural Karnataka to facilitate
the service of Awatar in the state, the people from rural and remote areas are
the key beneficiaries.”
Srinivasamurthy, MD, KSRTC said, “We are proud to launch the country's
first transport online passenger reservation system which would be instrumental
in revolutionizing the road transport sector in the country. Implementing Awatar
would enable the corporation to become more efficient, accountable and
transparent in its overall operations. ”
HD Kumaraswamy, chief minister of Karnataka, was the first passenger to book
ticket online through Awatar from Mysore to Chennai.
