Karnataka RTC gets online booking system of Radiant

MUMBAI: Bangalore-based Radiant Infosystems, has introduced Awatar (Any Where

Any Time Advanced Reservation System), a transport online passenger-booking

project, in association with KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation)

today.

Awatar was designed, developed and implemented by Radiant Infosystems on an

IBM platform, around Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).

This software will enable customers to book tickets online to various

destinations across the state; from the comfort of home or office or anywhere in

the world. Passengers can also check arrival and departure information,

cancellations and wait-listed status via mobile phones, palmtops or e-mail.

C Narayanacharyulu, director, Radiant, said, “We look forward to developing

such effective solutions beneficial to both the state and its citizens. Now that

the Government is planning to open 1000 kiosks in rural Karnataka to facilitate

the service of Awatar in the state, the people from rural and remote areas are

the key beneficiaries.”

Srinivasamurthy, MD, KSRTC said, “We are proud to launch the country's

first transport online passenger reservation system which would be instrumental

in revolutionizing the road transport sector in the country. Implementing Awatar

would enable the corporation to become more efficient, accountable and

transparent in its overall operations. ”

HD Kumaraswamy, chief minister of Karnataka, was the first passenger to book

ticket online through Awatar from Mysore to Chennai.
