Hewlett-Packard appears to have won a patent infringement lawsuit filed
by Xerox that claimed HP had violated one of its ink jet printer cartridge
patents.
A Federal District Court judge in the Western District of New York
ruled this week that HP did not infringe Xerox's patent and dismissed the
suit in its entirety. Xerox is expected to appeal the court ruling.
Separately, HP said it is teaming up with Unisys to sell computers and
services to companies interested in simplifying their global networks.
H-P will make personal computers, notebook computers and powerful
servers, while Unisys, which competes with IBM in the computer service and
maintenance market, will sell services to set up and maintain the HP-based
networks.
